Challenge

TV fitness apps have a problem. The whole family uses one screen, but workouts are personal. Most apps either force you to sign up before you can do anything, or they skip identity entirely and give everyone the same generic experience. And on TV, where your only input is a remote with five buttons, typing an email feels like punishment.

Approach

I designed an identity system that earns sign-ups instead of demanding them. Users start working out immediately with no account.

After their first session, when they see their stats and feel that post-workout high, the app offers to save their progress. Registration happens on your phone through a QR code. Zero typing on TV. Profile switching is one button press. And a mobile companion handles everything the remote can't.

Kinectic is about making identity invisible on shared devices. The system went from six registration steps to three, eliminated all TV-side typing, and introduced one-press profile switching for households. The core insight was simple: don't ask people to create an account. Give them a reason to want one.
